Capsule Geology

The Saddle Ridge Gold zone area is underlain by marine sedimentary and volcanic rock of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group. The stratigraphy is intruded by Late Triassic granodiorite, Early Jurassic monzonite diorite to gabbro (Texas Creek Plutonic Suite) and Triassic to Jurassic syentite to monzonite (Copper Mountain Plutonic Suite).

Bellex Mining discovered the zone in 1988. A quartz vein from 5 to 30 centimetres in width occurs about 500 metres southeast of this area at the 1150 metre elevation (sample 358182) and is underlain by andesitic crystal tuffs and andesitic flows. The vein is mineralized with pyrite and chalcopyrite and assayed 67.9 grams per tonne gold, 100.94 grams per tonne silver and 6.72 per cent copper (Assessment Report 18114).

In 1989 Bellex revisited the Saddle Ridge Gold zone. Narrow gold-rich quartz-pyrite-chalcopyrite veins are found in a number of locations on the property. One sample of a 10 centimeter vein in the Saddle Ridge Gold Zone assayed 4.78 per cent copper and 133.7 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 19904).

See Devils Club (104G 060) for further details of the Jack Wilson (JW) property work history.
